iOS Changelog 2023/24

Here’s a list of updates and bug fixes to the Trakt iOS app in 2023/24. If you’d like to support Trakt, please consider signing up for VIP. VIP members get early beta builds and can test new features before anyone else.

• Some improvements to the Up Next API card implementation including more accurate refreshing and better error handling.
• Fixed missing time remaining in Up Next API card implementation.
• Adjusted large UI (eg. iPad) to use a card for the Watchlist and moved Social Activity to the bottom of the list.

UPDATES

• Experimenting with new API based Up Next card data on the home tab when sort option is the default watched date sort.
• Added support for VIPs to queue a refresh of metadata of Movies, Shows, and People. A ‘More’ button (•••) has been added to Movie and Show Summary screens, and the action has been added to the existing People Summary screen’s ‘more’ actions.
• Improved/reduced the amount of information locally cached on device. The app’s size should reduce within the next few launches after updating.
• Adjusted how some cached info is stored to avoid being unnecessarily stored in iCloud backup.
• Added some options within the settings screen to view the size of, and clear, the image cache.
• Updated some logic for various progress sorting options to match the website.
• Multiple content languages metadata is displayed for applicable Movies and Shows rather than the single language.
• Reduced episode info fetched for swiping between episodes.
• Increased number of items displayed in the main Discover screen sections.
• Defaulted Trending Discover sections to use the horizontal scrolling cards rather than single compact card.
• Added Watchlist section to Home tab.
• Moved Stats section from Home tab to Me/Profile tab.
• Comments and Actors are expanded by default and will remember the last setting, respectively, across sessions.
• Watch Now links should now load in app and take you from the app to the external app or website directly rather than via the browser.

BUGS

• Fixed a crash that could happen when logging out.
• Fixed an issue with comment spoiler toggle UI missing.
• Fixed an issue where sync would show an error just because the initial sync network call was ‘Cancelled’.

• Added a ‘See Calendar’ button to the Home tab’s Upcoming Schedule card to make it more obvious the Calendar is accessed via there.
• Added additional Rating badge to the poster in Summary screens for consistency with the web and rest of the app.
• Adjusted the order of the labels and hearts in the Rating pop up to make it easier to see what was selected rather than it potentially being blocked by your hands.
• Attempting to log in should now always require you to enter your details rather than just assuming you want to log in to the same account.
• Show Summary seasons now display the number of episodes watched vs aired in addition to the total number of episodes, where applicable.

BUGS

• Fixed an issue causing the Show Summary’s Rewatch button not to work on iPad layouts.
