Here’s a list of updates and bug fixes to the Trakt website in 2021. If you’d like to support Trakt, please consider signing up for VIP.

December 17, 2021

VIP UPDATES (more info)

• Watch now filtering added to your history, collection, and ratings pages. Select a specific type (movies, shows, episodes) and the watch now filter icon will be visible.

• Quickly add +ALL your favorite watch now streaming services, no need to select them all individually anymore! This works with advanced filtering and user profile (see above).

UPDATES

• Easily buy movie tickets at your favorite cinemas. We index thousands of cinemas in the United States, and we plan to add additional countries in the future. More info.
• Added a bunch of watch now countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jamaica, Moldova, Panama, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Gibraltar, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Barbados, Bermuda, Bahamas, French Guiana, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Yemen, Bahrain, and Jordan.
• Reported content is handled in a new internal system instead of using the support portal. You report the same as usual using the sidebar link.

BUGS

• Improved email reliability for account confirmations and other emails.
• Fixed 500 error on some collection pages.
• Stop parsing markdown in movie and TV show overviews.
• Correctly highlight the list icon for people.
• Fixed HTML encoding in advanced filtering network names.
• Don’t allow importing TV shows from TVDB that already existed in Trakt using TMDB as the datasource.
• Fixed relative dates in the user progress page.
• Improved movie certification on the summary page, specifically for digital only releases common on various streaming services.
• Improved user ratings so a large number of ratings loads up way faster.
• Improved scrobbling when using a title based match.

• Improve Plex Scrobbler matching with the Plex TV metadata agent.

UPDATES

• Added Slovakia, Iceland, Croatia and Egypt watch now streaming links.
• Roku badge (similar to Amazon and Free) added to streaming Roku premium channels.

BUGS

• New shows are imported from TMDB, there was a bug where it might use TVDB still.

VIP UPDATES (more info)

• iCal calendar feeds include the network name in the calendar location field.
• Episodes display IMDB ratings if the Additional Site Ratings setting is on.
• Additional debugging added for the Plex Scrobbler to help determine why some items aren’t matched on Trakt. Please ask us to enable this setting if you’re having issues. Here’s the VIP forum thread.

UPDATES

• Added Hong Kong and Taiwan watch now streaming links.
• Free streaming sources are now more easily visible with a FREE badge under the main logo. The Trakt website and iPhone app have this update.

• New TV Show Metadata blog post explaining how we get info for all shows, seasons, and episodes.
• Improved image updates for TV shows and episodes with missing posters, fanart, and screenshots.
• View plays link from TV show and season pages now load the episodes version for your watched history. This enables all the sorting options and makes it way more useful.
• Sorting by title ignores The, An, and A for a more accurate order.

BUGS

• Tumblr sharing works again.
• Report link visible to all signed in members.
• Sharing movies and TV shows in iMessage uses the correct poster artwork.
• Fixed the social sign in buttons in Safari so it doesn’t have a weird background color anymore.

TMDB MIGRATION

• As mentioned in January 2021, we’re switching to TMDB as the primary data source for TV show metadata. We maintain a transition page that displays any differences between TMDB, Trakt, and TVDB. Here are some recent updates we’ve made.
• Data issues can be reported directly from any show, season, episode, movie, and person page. Click the report link in the sidebar and provide us any details to help with the fix. Reports get sent to our help system, so we can interact like a normal support ticket.
• Shows, seasons, episodes, and movies can all be locked from getting data refreshes. For example, if a show matches TMDB except for the Specials, we can lock the Specials but otherwise have the show update from TMDB like normal.
• We’re working on updated data mergers and movers. This will help us combine episodes, split episodes, or move episode around to match Trakt data with TMDB. We’re in the testing phase.

• Added a bunch more caching capacity which will help the website and API.

BUGS

• Fixed Apple and Google sign in.

UPDATES

• We’ve switched to FreshDesk for our support portal. Access it using the same https://support.trakt.tv link or by clicking Help in the Trakt website footer. We’re in the process of importing all the old support data over and hope to have that completed in the next few weeks.
• Added Bulgaria, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Costa Rica watch now streaming links.

BUGS

• Fixed 500 error on some actor pages.
• Correctly save non English TV show titles and improved the searching using these titles.

• Fixed some watch now prices to handle currencies with long numbers.
