Here’s a list of updates and bug fixes to the Trakt website in 2022. If you’d like to support Trakt, please consider signing up for VIP.

  • You can sign up VIP inside the iOS app using Apple as your payment source.

  • Lists go back to page 1 after watch now filters are applied.
  • Fixed VIP and years badge on profile widgets.
  • Fixed watch now filtering by All Favorites on people pages.

UPDATES

  • Watched history recovery is complete with over 57 million plays recovered between Nov 7 — Dec 11. Please visit your dashboard to review your recovered plays and import them. If you’ve already re-added your watched history, you can ignore the items.

  • Added better fade and hide filter options for Watched (100%), Partially Watched, and Not Watched (0%).

BUGS

  • Fixed search icon on mobile devices.
  • Fixed bug with saving TVDB IDs from the TMDB external IDs section.
  • Catch list popup errors and present a message asking to reset browser data. This should fix the 0 of 1 lists error.
  • Potential fix for dashboard up next loading multiple times.

UPDATES

  • Ratings on unreleased items are hidden by default. This helps clean up the UI and make ratings more relevant throughout the site. If you prefer to display early ratings, change your settings.
  • Welcome wizard alphabetizes streaming services. Selected services will still float to the top of the list when editing your previous selections.
  • Add additional plays button added to TV shows and seasons that are 100% watched. This functionality was on the summary page already, but is now in the quick icons throughout the website too.
  • Watching now option added to movie and episode items throughout the website. If you don’t want this option, you can turn it off in your settings.
  • People pages have a new filter to hide unrated.
  • Dashboard up next progress bar links to the detailed progress page for that TV show.
  • New recommendations setting to ignore collected TV shows and movies.
  • Adjusted progress page to more clearly indicate if a show returns next season, ended, or was canceled.

BUGS

  • Fixed comments for deleted users so they display correctly as anonymous.
  • Fixed view all and view plays buttons on summary pages.
  • Fixed share link for episodes with quotes in the title.
  • Fixed my movies calendar to correctly display upcoming movies on your watchlist.

VIP UPDATES (more info)

  • Dashboard recently watched has more/less buttons to expand up to 3 rows (9 episodes/movies) of data.
  • Dashboard reccommendations has more/less buttons to expand up to 3 rows (9 shows + 9 movies) of data. Each recommendation also includes the avatar of the member who recommended it.
  • Notification emails have the TV show title linked separately so you can jump there directly.

UPDATES

  • Sharing to Twitter and Tumblr automatically adds the TV show or movie hashtag. We can manually change theses if needed, just use the report button on the website.
  • Movie release dates use the earliest theatrical or digital release in the original country. If those release types don’t exist, it uses the earliest release date in the original country. This helps accuracy and ignores festival premieres in favor of the wider release.

BUGS

  • Fix data refresh for TV shows with a ton of networks on TMDB.
  • Fixed user avatars in the summary activity boxes (watching now, etc).
  • cmd/ctrl + click on the view plays in the purple watched history button opens the page in a new tab.

  • Language and country filters added for global email digests. Click the red filter icon to change them.

  • Removed movie ticketing. We were testing this in the US, but the feature wasn’t used much.

BUGS

  • Dashboard up next correctly uses the include collected progress setting.
  • Fixed Apple sign in.
  • Enabled watch now filtering, even if the hide watch now setting was on.

  • Lists have an updated manage interface (click or press m on your keyboard) that allows bulk copy, move, and delete for the filtered items.

UPDATES

  • New ratings stats page for all media items, click the rating to see the detailed graph breakdown.
  • Added Donghua genre (Chinese Animation).
  • Added an actual search button to execute the search, rather then relying on browsers to do it.
  • Summary pages have more list options to see popular, friends, and me.
  • Comment replies by the original poster have a badge to easily notice that.

BUGS

  • Fixed popular lists loading, it would sometimes have multiple headers.
  • Allow TV shows with multiple networks to correctly display for each.
  • Various fixes to ignore adult items that were hidden or deleted.
  • Fixed list item calculations and duplicate items.

VIP LIST UPDATES (more info)

  • List progress updated to work on all your lists and any lists you have access to (public, from your friends, collaboration, etc).
Click the progress button on list.
Filter your progress page for all TV shows on a list.

UPDATES

  • Added Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine watch now streaming links.
  • Recommendations allow up to 50 items. If you only had 50 movies and TV shows to bring with you on a desert island (with a sweet 4K home theater), what would they be?
Click the orange ⚡️icons to recommend something.
  • Add notes when you recommend something. This will be used on your Trakt website and app profile.
Why did your recommend this?
  • Movie summary pages have the official list first if the movie is part of one.

BUGS

  • Use + sign in streaming services names. For example, Disney+ instead of Disney Plus.
  • Fixed EU ad consent so it won’t display each page load (only happened for signed out guests).

  • Official lists are viewable on the website and can be commented on.
  • List search updated with a new layout and advanced filters.
  • View liked personal and official lists in your Trakt profile.
  • Fade and hide list items with notes or no notes.

  • Fixed alternate seasons page that caused a visual poster bug on scroll.
  • Fixed movie releases page to eliminate duplicates.

VIP LIST UPDATES (more info)

  • Notes — (255 maximum characters) can be added on all list items. This includes your watchlist, recommendations, and personal lists.
  • Collaboration — Invite anyone you’re following to collaborate on your lists. Once they accept the invitation, they’ll have full access to add and remove items on the list (notes too if they’re a VIP). Any items added by a collaborator display their avatar over the poster. The add to list popup will include any collaborative lists, so it’s super easy to manage throughout the Trakt website.

  • List Fanart — The 1st ranked item will be used for the fanart in the top section.

LIST UPDATES

  • Pagination — All lists are now paginated, this allows larger lists to actually load and be useable. All sorting and filtering options are still available.
  • In place management — Previously, we had to re-order the list by rank before allowing management. With pagination, we can do this inline. To change the rank, just click the rank number, type in a new one, and click Enter. Single page lists order by rank will still have drag and drop to order.
  • Filter by type — This was possible before, but pretty hidden. The type filter has been elevated to the main list page to be more clear.
  • Filter by genre — Genre filtering added to the main list page.
  • Re-organized header — The header sections on a list page are re-organized to better match the rest of your User pages.

  • Alternate seasons added to TV shows that support it. We sync this data from TMDB and it is super helpful to match how you’re watching a show. Easily view your watched progress with the progress bars and detailed progress page.

  • Added Fiji, Guernsey, Mauritius, Seychelles, Cuba, and Cabo Verde watch now streaming links.
  • Improved spam protections to prevent new accounts from liking a ton of stuff all at once.
  • Switched to DuckDuckGo for the Wikipedia button search.
  • Added a new setting to optionally include the runtime when adding items to your watched history and collection using the release date.

BUGS

  • Correctly display Pilot TV show status on the summary page.
  • Added horizontal scrollbar to the Actors section on a summary page.
  • Watch now icons display correctly if an item streams on your favorite services, even if you home country doesn’t stream it.
  • Fixed occasional 500 errors on the TMDB migration page.

  • Updated Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
  • Added French Polynesia, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Antigua and Barbuda watch now streaming links.
  • People can have non-binary gender, as set on TMDB.
  • Known for department added to People pages, with that tab being auto selected.

BUGS

  • Other date picker supports more custom date formats that you can type in manually.

  • Year in Review improved most watched writers to include anyone in the writing department (writer, screenplay, etc).
  • Improved +ALL button in advanced search for streaming services.

UPDATES

  • Added Ivory Coast, Niger, Mozambique, Kenya, and Uganda watch now streaming links.
  • Adding items to your watched history and collection using the release date now adds the runtime. For example, if an episode is 30 minutes long it will calculate the date as (first aired) + (runtime).
  • Added year label to search results.
  • Last refreshed date added to the sidebar on all TV show and movie summary pages.
  • Added some admin moderation tools allowing us to more easily merge mini series, shows, and seasons.
  • Your ratings page can be filtered by a specific media ID, add ?show=:id for example. Other sections like history already supported this.

BUGS

  • Fixed some display and link bugs related to adding the show title to fanart/poster views.
  • Blocking private members from comments works correctly now.
  • Fixed various 500 errors when viewing your history page.

UPDATES

  • New reports page to check the status of all media you’ve reported for moderation.
  • Any settings panel can be collapsed by clicking on it. This works throughout the various settings pages.
  • Added release year to search results.
  • Improved fanart/poster views for episodes and seasons by linking the show name to the show itself. Previously it would always load the episode or season.

BUGS

  • Fix read more toggle on list descriptions.

UPDATES

  • Block comments from members you are uninterested in (Web only for now). Please continue reporting comments that violate our commenting rules.
  • New spoiler setting to only blur overviews for unwatched items.
  • Lists and Actors containing unreleased movies and shows move those items to the end (when sorted ascending) or the beginning (when sorted descending), since they premiere in the future. It also displays the status (i.e. In Production).

  • Several Year in Review updates including most watched writers, improved scrollbars, and fixed VIP badges.

  • Added Pakistan watch now streaming links.
  • Add comment button added in the comments section on summary pages.
  • Clicking on comment replies will toggle the replies on and off, previously it wasn’t a toggle.
  • Add HTML title tag to truncated titles (i.e. dashboard up next section) so you can easily hover the mouse and see the full text.
  • Greatly improved emoji rendering performance in MacOS Chrome browsers.

BUGS

  • Fixed some links and formatting on the mobile web summary pages.
  • Fixed emoji rendering in comment spoilers.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented images from loading properly.
  • Only display anime absolute number if greater than 0.
  • Adjusted advanced filtering correctly round the rating percentages.

January 18, 2022

UPDATES

  • Added Pakistan watch now streaming links.
  • Advanced settings page to reset your browser data and reset your profile image back to default.
  • Improved media reporting popup with additional instructions and reasons. We’ve transitioned to an internal system to handle all reports and won’t be using the support portal for that anymore.
  • Updated Discover page with new featured lists and midseason TV shows.
  • Ignore adult TV shows from TMDB. If you still find any, please click the report link in the sidebar so we can remove it.
