Here’s a list of updates and bug fixes to the Trakt website in 2018. If you’d like to support Trakt, please consider signing up for VIP.
December 12, 2018
VIP UPDATES (more info)
- Runtime added to all user CSV feeds.
- Some bug fixes on the Year in Review and All Time Stats for the clickable graphs and date ranges.
UPDATES
- User selectable date formats! By default we use Month Day Year (Dec 12, 2018), but you can also choose Day Month Year (12 Dec 2018), Year Month Day(2017 Dec 12), and Year Day Month (2018 12 Dec) and the entire Trakt website uses your preferred date formatting. Choose in your settings or the welcome wizard.
- Absolute numbers for anime added to the user sections, discover page, and comments.
- New collection metadata options for audio (DTS-HD MA, DTS-HA HR, Auro-3D) and channels (10.1, 9.1, 7.1.2, 7.1.4, 5.1.2, 5.1.4).
BUGS
- Use an actor’s main headshot for roles like Herself or Himself. Previously the images might look duplicated with these generic roles on multiple actors.
- Fixed list thumbnails on mobile to respect the ranking.
- Expanded the clickable arrows to navigate pages in the movies, TV, and calendars section. This is especially helpful on mobile and more easy to click.

UPDATES
- Allow additional plays to be added from the watched icon. This is very useful when you’re rewatching a show and want to log additional plays.
- List URLs include filters for easier sharing and so others can see the exact sorting, fading, and hiding.
- Collection metadata can be updated for TV shows and seasons. Previously it worked on episodes and movies.
BUGS
- Allow unlinking of private lists.

UPDATES
- As of August 1, Facebook has disabled automatic sharing to your timeline. Unfortunately, we’ve had to remove to functionality from Trakt. If Facebook decides to allow timeline sharing again, we’ll add it back.

- Watch now advanced filtering adds Free Services to filter items that stream for free! Also added more logos for the popular streaming services.
UPDATES
- Sort your progress page and dashboard up next randomly. There is a new option in the sort dropdown and in your settings.
- Fixed some movie genres like superhero, holiday, sporting event, musical, short, and suspense. Movies tagged on TMDB with these terms will be added to the corresponding genre on Trakt.

- Hide watched, collected, and rated from the global movies, shows, and search pages. Previously you could fade items, but this update will actually remove the items and adjust the pages accordingly.
- All Time Stats adds release years for all TV shows and movies you’ve watched and tracked.
UPDATES
- Improved YouTube popup controls when viewing trailers.
- Sort item comments by user rating, plays, and watched percentage. This is helpful to give more weight to people who have completed a TV show or watched an item multiple times.
BUGS
- Fixed episode stats placements when viewing season and the all episodes page for any TV show.
- Fixed hiding shows from your progress page where the title is only numbers.

- Calendar iCal feed uses a book icon to indicate collected items.
- Calendar notification emails run correctly for time zones offset by 30 minutes.

UPDATES
- Optimized browser data storage and reduced the size by 70%! This helps for users with a large watched history and those members who signed up 8 years ago :)
- Switched to a new date and time parsing library that should fix issues that some users were seeing with invalid times being displayed.

VIP UPDATES (more info)
- Reset your watched progress for TV shows! Choose right now or a custom date to recalculate your progress (and dashboard up next) starting with that date. This doesn’t remove any plays, it just adjusts the progress percentage. You can undo the reset in your settings.
UPDATES
- Improved episode stats when viewing an entire season. The stats bar is moved below the title to stop the text wrapping and the comment count and link is added.
- Progress page has a view all link that will expand all seasons and episodes with a single click. You can still use view seasons to only expand the seasons without the episodes.
- Episode air date is displayed in the check in popup.
- Improved tooltips on the ø hide icons.
BUGS
- Fix poster tooltip on the dashboard up next section if you are hiding spoilers.

VIP UPDATES (more info)
- All Time Year in Review is ready! Check out yours here. We started with the yearly year in review, then upgraded and added some new sections including top plays, countries, list progress (for some popular lists), and all ratings. It’s really cool to visualize all your combined stats!
UPDATES
- Branding requirements added which include official Trakt logos and info on integrating Trakt authentication, scrobbling, and checkins.
- Improved the user activity section (watching now + your friends activity) on movie pages. It will load a lot faster now.
- New TVDB link format to match their updated website. Season and episode links will be much better since they only require the single TVDB ID in the link now.

- CSV exports include genres for each TV show and movie. The URL structure has also changed to include your user token. This allows the CSV to be downloaded directly and doesn’t require access through the website.
- Calendar alarms can be set on the iCal feeds. Add &alarm=X to the end of any calendar iCal URL, where X is the number of minutes, and you’ll be notified before each episode airs.
UPDATES
- Comments indicate if the writer has watched the item. TV shows and seasons indicate the watched percentage. Episodes and movies indicate the play count. Along with their rating, this helps give credibility to their comment.
- About page has a new Press Coverage section with links to articles featuring Trakt. Check them out!

- All year in review pages include most watched actresses as its own section. Previously, all actors were combined.
- New setting to auto scroll the calendar to today’s date. This is useful if you want to use monthly view. It can start on today, but you can easily scroll back or forward in the month.

- Progress has new sort options for most plays and least plays.
BUGS
- Improved search results for items with accented characters.
- Profile card widget fixed the episode link format.
- Calendar emails fixed images for movies and episodes without a poster.

TRAKT SHOP
- Visit the new Trakt Shop and check out the new merch! We have lots of Trakt branded shirts, hats, mugs, and posters. We’re also working to make licensed merch available from your favorite TV shows and movies (we’re currently testing this for US customers).
VIP UPDATES (more info)
- We’re continuing to work on your personalized 2017 Year in Review and a few of the updates are ready to check out now! All of the stats are now linked to your profile to see all the data in more detail. In the most played sections, hovering over the TV show image changes the fanart and stats. In the ratings sections, hovering over a poster changes the fanart.
- A bubble chart has been added to visualize your most watched TV networks. The larger the bubble, the more shows you’ve watched from that network. Hover over a bubble to see more details and click to view all the TV shows for that network.
UPDATES
- Collection metadata (format, resolution, audio) can be easily edited by clicking on the green collection button or icon, then click the wand icon. The metadata will updated, but keep your existing collected at date.
- If you’ve added collection metadata (format, resolution, audio) for your movies and episodes, it will now display on the summary page and grid views.
