Here’s a list of updates and bug fixes to the Trakt website in 2019. If you’d like to support Trakt, please consider signing up for VIP.
December 27, 2019
VIP UPDATES (more info)
- Year in Review and All time stats have several cool updates!
- On your all time stats, choose a specific year range you want to view.
- Most watched movie studios are now displayed. Click on one to see the specific movies you’ve watched from that studio.
- Actors and Directors use episode level credits to calculate your most watched. You can also view more people beyond the default but clicking see more.
UPDATES
- Play count is displayed for your friends on any show or season page if they’ve watched episodes more than once.
- Copying list items respects the filtering and sorting you have applied. This makes it way more useful to only copy the exact items you want.

VIP UPDATES (more info)
- All time stats uses decades for release years on smaller screened devices. Previously it would squish too many years and be unreadable.
- Improved Plex Scrobbler to detect Hama/TVDB metadata or episodes with incomplete ID info. We also recommend using the TMDB or TVDB metadata agents since those have the best ID coverage to match Trakt.
UPDATES
- Added new watch now streaming services: Apple TV+ (all countries), AMC Theaters on Demand (US), Wakanim (DK, NO, FI, RU, FR, DE, SE),
- Progress bars added to show and season summary pages under the buttons and posters.
- Hide episode counts under actor names. Turn this on in your spoiler settings.
- Movie status are more clear for unreleased items. It will now indicate Planned, In Production, Post Production, Rumored, or Canceled on movie summary pages.
- Hidden items (from your progress or calendar) are sorted by title to more easily locate items you want to unhide.
BUGS
- Fixed watch now quick icons (under posters on all summary pages) to display your favorites if streaming on those services.
- Fixed actor headshots for reality TV shows with judges.
- Spoilers are correctly hidden on dashboard recommendations.
- Fixed dates on the movie calendars, they were sometimes a day off in certain time zones.

- Calendar iCal feeds support an advanced URL parameter &full_days=true if you prefer full day events instead of specific times the episode airs.
- New hide filters: Unwatched, Uncollected, Unrated, Unlisted
- New fade filter: Unrated
UPDATES
- People pages updated with a tabbed layout, watched percentage, collected percentage, sorting, and filtering!
- Reddit Top 250 list featured on the Discover page.
- The see more link on the Dashboard up next to watch loads your progress with the completed items hidden. You can unhide the items in the filter menu and going to your progress page in your user menu won’t hide them by default.
- Click a sidebar section title to collapse the links.

- Copy all list items (even from other users) into a new list or one of your existing lists. Very useful to quickly update your Watchlist or to combine multiple lists.

- Dark Knight Mode supports automatic switching based on your system appearance setting. This is supported in iOS 13, MacOS, Windows 10 and any other OS with dark mode support. Set Dark Knight Mode to Auto in your settings.
UPDATES
- Progress bars split into exact episode segments so you can easily see what episodes you’ve missed. If you prefer the standard progress bar instead, change it in your settings.
- Actors use native browser scrolling for a smoother appearance, especially on touch enabled devices.
BUGS
- Several iPad OS 13 fixes including the search bar, top right user menu, and advanced filtering. Safari now runs in desktop mode by default which caused these bugs.

- Read more… expandable links added to long overviews on movie, show, season, and episode pages.

VIP UPDATES (more info)
- Plex scrobbling! The Plex scrobbler uses Plex Pass webhooks to automatically scrobble what you’re watching and rating back to Trakt. Once set up, everything runs automatically in the background. Read the full blog post.
UPDATES
- List animations are disabled on mobile devices and for lists with more than 200 items. This will increase performance and speed up the filtering and sorting options on lists.
- If your profile is private and you have follower notifications enabled, you’ll now get an email with the follow request.
- Approve or deny follow requests right from the user’s profile page. You‘ll still get notices on your dashboard as well, so you can manage in either place.

- Disable swipe up action on mobile devices since it wasn’t working correctly on smaller screens.
- Fixed a URL encoding issue on saved filters.
- Fixed inline spoiler tags to not be case sensitive.

UPDATES
- Select your primary country and favorite streaming sources across multiple countries! For example, you might subscribe to Chili and iPlayer in the United Kingdom, Crave+ in Canda, and see everything else from the United States. This is useful for super streamers or when you’re travelling.
- If you select services across countries, we’ll add an additional country badge so you can tell the difference. For example, you might select Netflix in the United States as a favorite, and set your primary country to the United Kingdom. We’ll add a US badge in the Netflix icon so you can easily tell.
- Quickly change the country in any watch now popup.
- Watch now icon is now enabled to quickly see if the item is streaming on one or more of your favorite services.
BUGS
- Hide the watch now button on mobile if no streaming sources are available.

VIP UPDATES (more info)
- Filter your watchlist and personal lists by streaming services! Once you select the services, your list will only display items available to watch on one or more of those streaming services. This works when viewing your own lists and other user’s lists you have access to.
- Only display the watch now icon if an item is streaming on one or more of your favorite streaming services. Turn this on in your settings.
BUGS
- Fixed posters on mobile episode and season pages so clicking on the poster will go up a level.

- We released a huge update to our watch now streaming links and now support 36 countries! Select your country and favorite streaming sources to get started. We’ll display your favorites first in the watchnow popups for quick access.
- Watch now services indicate if 4K Ultra HD is available.
- Shows and seasons have specific watch now bundles so you can find where to stream the entire show or season. Previously, we’d just show links for the first episode.
- Discover page has 2019 summer TV shows.

UPDATES
- TV shows automatically refresh images 2 weeks before and 3 weeks after a show premieres. This helps clean up the images and looks a lot better for brand new TV shows.
- Aired episode count added next to the total runtime when viewing a show or season page.
BUGS
- Some movies without a release date would break the iCal feed.
- Some items with a release date were hidden on your ratings page.
- Updated Slack to properly authenticate.
- Fixed commenting on iOS when marking spoilers.

- Hide listed and unlisted items from the TV, movies, calendars, and search. Click the eye icon to apply these filters.
UPDATES
- Actors and guest stars added for seasons and episodes.
- Guest stars added for TV shows. Each actor includes the number of episodes they appeared in for the show.
- Quickly change pages by hovering over the … on any user page.
- Comments can be flagged if they are spam, support requests, etc.
- Blur ratings and comments for unwatched items. Turn on in your settings.
- Click outside any watch now popup to close it.
BUGS
- Improved widgets caching so they won’t get stuck in an incorrect state.

- Advanced Filtering allows the IMDB vote count to be filtered using a min and max vote number. The Trakt vote count also allows a min and max now.
UPDATES
- Collection metadata now supports HDR and 3D options. Click the green book collection icon, then the wand icon to edit the metadata. The overlay is also improved if you have Ultra HD 4K Blu-rays in your collection.
BUGS
- Dashboard upcoming calendar correctly groups episodes for TV shows that released all episodes at the same time.
- Fixed a few emoji display issues.

- Emojis are supported throughout the website! 💯 🙌
When commenting or replying, type : to autocomplete tons of available emojis. You can also use standard emojis (useful on mobile) and we’ll automatically handle those too. Emojis will display in the following areas: comments, replies, user display name, user about, user location, list descriptions, and the VIP forums.
BUGS
- Next and previous episode arrows are a bit darker and easier to see. Don’t forget you can use the keyboard shortcuts too: ← or p for previous episode and → or n for next episode.

- Mobile display fixes for Year in Review.
- Ratings totals on Year in Review now includes watched seasons and episodes.
- Dark Knight mode toggle added to the settings page.
UPDATES
- Next episode link and auto refresh setting (dashboard / progress) for your TV show progress and Dashboard up next sections. This allows you to quickly load the next episode without refreshing the page.
- Allow TV show progress to calculate your next episode based on the last episode watched or last episode aired. Previously there was no option and it would always use the last episode aired.
- My calendars and custom calendars now include individual episodes on your watchlist. This applies to the website, RSS, and iCal feeds.
- Discover page has 2019 midseason TV shows and lists for the 2019 Academy Awards and Golden Globes.
- Improved TV show data refresh to fill in missing images, seting the premiere date more reliably, and filling in missing episode air dates.
- Updated Google sign in to no longer rely on Google+ since they are shutting it down soon.
- Updated Facebook sign in based on some breaking changes they made.
BUGS
- Fixed the show title on the dashboard upcoming schedule for shows with episodes spanning multiple days.
- Watched data is re-cached after checking into an episode or movie.
- People can only be added to personal lists and not watchlists.
- Fixed pagination links when viewing your User pages by date range (i.e. you clicked on a day from your Dashboard last 30 days graph).
